Bier Garten – can take your own food bought elsewhere, only buy a beer there. Covered tables for service only, plain tables for serve yourself.
Credit cards accepted in large dept. stores, high end shops and tourist traps. Germany is a cash society. Plan to use the ATM often. Or, spend little – impossible!
Highways are pristine and in absolutely fine repair. Nothing even approaching a pothole anywhere. Bike/walking routes are common along the highways and byways, well separated from traffic, often by a tree lined, grassy buffer zone. No billboards.
In town, bike lanes are well designated and at sidewalk level above the street level, separated from car traffic by a curb. Some broad boulevards have crossings restricted to bikes only, with underground tunnels for slower foot traffic.
