After six days, we finally left Munich for points west to the pastoral part of Bavaria known as Algäu where famous cheeses come from (some available at Costco) and south toward the Alps. First stop was in Ottobeuren, on the tourist map for its famous basilica, a massive structure overlooking a lovely town. We were taken by this place, not for the basilica, but for the name of our lodging – Pension Eva. We actually do things like this – choose towns, wineries, restaurants, etc. after our family names. We rarely go wrong in these quirky choices.
Eva had made reservations by phone from Santa Rosa and was struck by how nice the lady on the other end sounded. When we arrived at Pension Eva we were delighted by both the place and by Frau Eva herself. My Eva and she even shared the same middle name. So now I’ll show you around the place, beginning at the inauspicious front steps.
I am so enjoying your adventures. Love it that you stayed at Pension EVA. I liked your pics on Munich. We were there70″s We too marveled at the industriousness of the workers. They were out there hammering and hauling well before we were up. I wondered about the escalators that are out in the open. I would think some salty ice would ‘gum’ up the works.
Nice to see Suzi in the pics as well.
Keep your adventures coming.

I would happily stay at Pension Eva! And ask to purchase one of those nice pillow covers for my friend Eva. Looks like the good times continue. We Martin fans back in Santa Rosa are traveling vicariously with you, and enjoying every bit of it. So glad you took up blogging, Bob!
